 My Journey from Corporate Accountant to Small Business Champion 

For years, I lived in the world of corporate finance, especially when I was in Dubai.  

It was a world of high stakes, massive spreadsheets, multi-million dollar budgets, and endless jargon. I worked for large corporations, analyzing reports that dictated the financial health of huge, impersonal entities.

The work was challenging, and I learned an incredible amount about complex financial systems. Yet, something was missing. The numbers felt abstract, detached from the real human impact of the decisions being made. I was a cog in a large machine, and I yearned for a more personal connection to the work I did every day.

The Corporate Grind vs. The Small Business Spark

The turning point for me was a casual conversation with my best friend's husband, a talented engineer who had just started his own freelance business in a complete different field.  He was stressed, overwhelmed, and completely lost when it came to his finances. He was pouring his heart and soul into his craft, but the "business side" was causing him and his family genuine anxiety.

I offered to help. Over the next few weeks, we organized his chaotic receipts, set up a simple accounting system, and established clear processes for invoicing and tax savings.

The transformation was incredible. It wasn’t just about neat spreadsheets; it was about the relief I saw in his eyes. It spread across to my best friend as well. It freed him up to focus on what he did best—looking after his business—and within months, his business was thriving.

That was the moment I realized where my expertise was truly needed.

Why Small Businesses Are My Passion

In the corporate world, a 1% increase in efficiency is a blip on a massive radar. In the small business world, that same efficiency can mean the difference between a business surviving or thriving.

Small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities. They are the dreamers, the doers, the local coffee shops, the innovative startups, and the dedicated freelancers. They operate with passion, resilience, and a personal touch that big corporations often lack.

My skills, honed in the rigorous corporate environment, could be directly applied to helping these real people build stronger, more sustainable livelihoods. I could finally see the direct impact of my work.
